Valwood Park Federal Credit Union, located in Carrollton, Texas, has returned to the control of its members. The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) made this announcement on March 26, 2025.

NCUA Chairman Kyle S. Hauptman commented on the development, stating, “The recovery of Valwood Park reflects the extraordinary efforts of its leadership team, staff, and members.” He further explained that through collaboration with the NCUA, a new management team was able to prevent failure by improving controls and reducing risks. According to Hauptman, Valwood Park is now better positioned to offer essential financial services and support the financial well-being of residents in Dallas’s Metrocrest communities.

The NCUA had previously placed Valwood Park Federal Credit Union into conservatorship on January 20, 2023. This action was taken due to unsafe and unsound practices identified at the credit union.

Valwood Park Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1974 and has been federally insured since then. It operates as a full-service credit union with a membership of 2,686 individuals and holds assets amounting to $25,442,484 as per its most recent Call Report. The credit union serves the communities of Carrollton, Addison, and Farmers Branch in Texas.

The NCUA functions as an independent federal agency established by Congress to regulate and supervise federal credit unions. It manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund which insures deposits for over 135 million account holders across federal credit unions and most state-chartered credit unions. Additionally, the NCUA focuses on consumer protection and public education regarding financial literacy issues.
