Representatives from the U.S. Treasury and regulatory agencies met with their UK counterparts in London on January 26, 2026, as part of a joint senior-level industry engagement for the Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future. The event was hosted by HM Treasury and focused on exploring ways to strengthen links between capital markets and foster collaboration on digital assets.
According to organizers, this engagement is designed to gather input from industry partners in both countries to ensure that the Taskforce’s work addresses key concerns within the financial sector. “We thank all participants for the dynamic discussions and insights,” said event coordinators.
The Transatlantic Taskforce for Markets of the Future was created in September 2025 during President Trump’s state visit to the UK. It was established by Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent and Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves with a goal of deepening cooperation between financial hubs in both nations.
Officials indicated that additional joint engagements are planned in the United States later this month. The Taskforce expects to provide recommendations to both finance ministries through the UK-U.S. Financial Regulatory Working Group in summer 2026.
