Earlier today, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent held an introductory call with Vice Premier He Lifeng of China. The discussion focused on the bilateral economic relationship between the United States and China.

During the call, Secretary Bessent expressed serious concerns regarding China’s counternarcotics efforts, economic imbalances, and policies perceived as unfair. He emphasized the U.S. Administration’s commitment to implementing trade and economic policies aimed at protecting the American economy, workers, and national security.

Both parties agreed to maintain communication in the future.
