Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Gyeongju to discuss ongoing areas of collaboration between the two countries. During their meeting, Secretary Bessent acknowledged the history of investments by Singapore’s two sovereign wealth funds in the United States and noted Singapore’s efforts to promote digital assets and U.S. dollar stablecoins.

Secretary Bessent expressed appreciation for Singapore’s cooperation with the U.S. Treasury in efforts to counter organized crime groups. He also highlighted the importance of continued joint action to prevent purchases of Russian and Iranian oil.
