Today, Secretary of the Treasury Scott K.H. Bessent engaged in discussions with Carlos Cuerpo, Spain’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Business. The dialogue centered on trade relations between the United States and Spain.

In the conversation, Secretary Bessent emphasized the importance of increased defense expenditure by Spain within the framework of NATO commitments. Furthermore, Bessent reiterated the United States’ ongoing resistance to the digital services tax implemented by Spain and similar measures in other countries, as well as various non-tariff barriers.
