On Monday, Secretary of the Treasury Scott K.H. Bessent held discussions with Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Türkiye. The conversation focused on trends in Türkiye’s economy and other pressing issues.

Secretary Bessent briefed Minister Şimşek on the U.S. Administration’s commitment to intensifying pressure on Iran. This effort aims to end Iran’s nuclear threat, limit its ballistic missile programs, and halt its support for terrorist groups.

The meeting also covered sanctions and various economic and national security matters that are of mutual concern to both parties.
