Treasury Secretary Bessent announces meetings in Spain, UK, and with Chinese officials

Secretary of the Treasury Scott K.H. Bessent is scheduled to travel to Europe from September 12 to September 18. His itinerary includes visits to Spain and the United Kingdom.

In Madrid, Secretary Bessent plans to meet with Spanish government officials to discuss the bilateral relationship between Spain and the United States. He will also hold meetings with senior representatives from the People’s Republic of China, including Vice Premier He Lifeng. The discussions are expected to cover national security, economic, and trade issues that are important for both countries. Topics include TikTok and efforts to cooperate on combating money laundering networks that impact both the United States and China.

After his time in Spain, Secretary Bessent will travel to London where he will engage with British government officials and private sector representatives. He is also set to participate in President Donald J. Trump’s official State Visit with King Charles III at Windsor Castle.
