Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent announced on Apr. 13 President Trump’s intent to nominate Erin Browne as Under Secretary for International Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The nomination is significant because the Under Secretary for International Affairs plays a major role in shaping U.S. economic policy abroad and managing relationships with international financial institutions.
Browne currently serves as a managing director and portfolio manager at Pimco, where she oversees multi-asset strategies, leads the Glide Path leadership team, and is a permanent member of the Americas Portfolio Committee. Her previous experience includes serving as managing director and head of asset allocation at UBS Asset Management, head of macro investments at UBS O’Connor, and holding roles at Point72, Citigroup, Moore Capital Management, Neuberger Berman, and Lehman Brothers.
She has been recognized by industry publications such as Barron’s in 2020 among the “100 Most Influential Women in US Finance,” by Pension & Investments in 2023 among the “Most Influential Women in Institutional Investing,” and by Morningstar as one of the “Top Female Fund Managers” in 2024.
Browne holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University. The nomination now awaits further action.
