John K. Hurley, Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, is scheduled to visit Mexico City on September 18. During his trip, Hurley will engage with Mexican government officials and industry representatives to discuss efforts to counter illicit financing, drug trafficking, and cartel activities.

The visit comes as part of a broader initiative by the Trump Administration aimed at dismantling drug cartels operating in Mexico and reducing the flow of fentanyl into the United States. This marks Hurley’s first international trip since assuming his current position.

Hurley expressed appreciation for ongoing collaboration between the United States and Mexico. “He appreciates the strong cooperation of the Government of Mexico and intends to emphasize that the Treasury Department will not permit Mexico-based drug cartels to access the U.S. financial system.”
