The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on May 28 the launch of the Trump Accounts app, now available nationwide on all major mobile app stores. The new application will serve as the primary interface for a policy aimed at supporting American families, with features designed to help households engage with the program from its inception.
“The Trump Administration is taking another step forward in expanding opportunity for American families. The Trump Accounts app delivers a simple, secure way for households to begin engaging with a program designed to build long-term financial strength from day one,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. “By putting easy access to Trump Accounts directly in the hands of parents and young Americans, we are helping to ensure that America’s youth are included in this new era of economic participation.”
According to Treasury, account activation will begin soon for millions of American families ahead of an official program launch scheduled for July 4, 2026. Parents and legal guardians who have already signed up their children by submitting IRS Form 4547 will start receiving emails containing instructions on how to complete account setup. These activation emails will be sent out in phases leading up to July 4.
Once activated through either the new app or by visiting TrumpAccounts.gov, children’s accounts can accept contributions from parents, family members, employers, and other eligible contributors starting July 4, subject to annual limits. Also beginning on that date, eligible children will receive a $1,000 pilot program contribution from the U.S. Department of the Treasury deposited directly into their accounts.
Treasury cautions families about potential scams during this rollout period: legitimate communications regarding account activation will only come via email from no-reply@TrumpAccounts.Treasury.gov; no texts or phone calls about activation should be expected or responded to; customer support is only available through secure channels within the app or online callback requests; and official information can always be found at TrumpAccounts.gov.
Parents or guardians who have not yet enrolled may open an account at any time before their child turns eighteen by submitting IRS Form 4547 and enrolling in the pilot program through official channels.
