Cleveland Fed hosts webinar on workforce development in Ohio’s semiconductor industry

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland will host an online webinar on August 25, 2025, focusing on strategies to meet workforce needs in Ohio’s growing semiconductor and related industries. The event will highlight how local partnerships among private industry, educational institutions, and nonprofits are working to strengthen the talent pipeline for these sectors.

The production of semiconductors is expanding across the United States, with significant investments occurring in states such as Ohio, Arizona, Texas, New York, and Oregon. During the webinar, an expert will present findings from case studies that examine collaborative efforts to improve productivity for employers while creating career opportunities for workers—especially those without a college degree.

Panelists will discuss both the challenges and successes specific to Ohio. They will address how community colleges are developing workforce training programs that provide transferable skills applicable across multiple industries rather than being tied to a single employer or sector. The discussion aims to identify areas where Ohio stands out compared to other states and where further innovation is needed.

A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation and panel discussion. The event is open to the public as part of the Cleveland Fed’s ongoing effort to inform communities about economic issues affecting their region.

Those interested can sign up for updates on future Fed Talks and other public events hosted by the Cleveland Fed.
