On June 27, Reginal Bryant, the senior vice president and CIO of the Richmond Federal Reserve, was honored with an ORBIE award in the Large Corporate category by CapitalCIO. Bryant expressed his gratitude for being recognized alongside other CIOs in the Capital region. "Ultimately, this award acknowledges the dedication, accomplishments and innovation of our Fed IT teams and business partners," he stated.

As CIO, Bryant leads a team of approximately 200 within the Bank’s Information Technology Services division. He also serves as a senior executive for the Enterprise Resource Planning Support Office and participates in several technology-focused initiatives at the System level.

Bryant's journey into technology began when his high school counselor suggested pursuing a degree in technology. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from The Citadel and a master's in management information systems from the University of Maryland. He also completed Harvard Business School’s General Management program.

Before joining the Federal Reserve, Bryant served eight and a half years in the Air Force, working in IT operations and cybersecurity roles across various locations including at the National Security Agency. His extensive experience led to his recruitment by the Fed in 2007 as an enterprise information security manager and advisor.

Bryant advises those entering the technology field to be open to different roles and gain experience across various areas of IT. "Learn as much as possible through self-study and formal programs but, most importantly, be open to different roles along the way," he said.

As one of the Fed’s top technology leaders, Bryant focuses on innovation for himself and his teams. He supports contemporary technologies such as robotic automation processing and encourages process improvements to meet business needs. "We celebrate these achievements throughout the year," he mentioned.

Outside his work at the Fed, Bryant is active in community endeavors focusing on education, health, and wellness. He is an advisory board member for organizations like Virginia Cyber Security Partnership and Family Lifeline.

The ORBIE Awards have been recognizing technology executives for leadership and innovation for over 25 years. The Richmond Fed team celebrates having another winner among them with Bryant's recognition.
