Parsons Corporation and IBM have announced a collaboration to develop a new air traffic control system in response to President Donald Trump’s and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s vision. This initiative aims to overhaul the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) National Airspace System (NAS) using an open vendor agnostic approach. Parsons will be the prime contractor, responsible for program leadership and accountability.

The NAS is essential for U.S. aviation, supporting travel, economic prosperity, and national security. The collaboration seeks to enhance this system by combining Parsons’ FAA experience with IBM’s systems integration expertise. Carey Smith, CEO of Parsons Corporation, stated that the partnership brings together "nearly 200 years of experience" to deliver a modern air traffic control system.

Parsons has worked with over 450 airports worldwide and has been involved with the FAA for nearly 50 years. Their contract includes project management, infrastructure modernization, and other services across more than 600 locations.

Mohamad Ali from IBM expressed pride in contributing to this opportunity, emphasizing their commitment to integrating advanced technologies for a future-ready airspace infrastructure. IBM has a long history with the U.S. federal government, providing technology solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
