Cleveland Fed president discusses monetary policy at forum

President Hammack addressed a monetary policy forum on June 24, 2025. The event was organized by the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, which is part of the US central bank system. The Cleveland Fed is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, together with the Board of Governors in Washington DC, make up the Federal Reserve System.

The Cleveland Fed plays a crucial role in formulating national monetary policy and supervises banking organizations. It also provides payment services to financial institutions and the US Treasury. In addition to these functions, it engages in research and educational activities to support communities within its jurisdiction.

This jurisdiction includes Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. With branches located in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, the Cleveland Fed gathers economic data from these areas to inform policymakers about conditions such as inflation and employment.

The Bank's efforts extend beyond supervision and policy formulation; it also focuses on providing resources for economic education. These initiatives aim to enhance understanding among local communities across the United States about various economic issues.
