IBM partners with Oracle to enhance AI solutions through cloud integration

IBM and Oracle have announced an expansion of their partnership, focusing on integrating IBM's AI products with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This collaboration aims to enhance productivity and efficiency across enterprises through multi-agentic, AI-driven solutions.

Greg Pavlik, Executive Vice President at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, emphasized the long-standing collaboration between IBM and Oracle. "AI delivers the most impactful value when it works seamlessly across an entire business," he stated. The expanded partnership is expected to provide customers with innovative ways to transform their businesses using AI.

IBM plans to launch its watsonx Orchestrate AI agent offerings on OCI in July. These agents will facilitate multi-agent workflows across various systems, including both Oracle and non-Oracle applications. Initially, these offerings will focus on human resources functions.

The companies also intend to make IBM's Granite family of AI models available via OCI Data Science later this year. Kareem Yusuf Ph.D., Senior Vice President at IBM, highlighted the benefits of this integration: "By integrating our AI with Oracle’s offerings, we’re enabling businesses to easily deploy and manage AI agents across their enterprise."

Furthermore, IBM Software like the Envizi ESG Suite is set to be available on OCI within the next 12 months. Watsonx.ai has been certified for use on OCI as well, providing scalability and performance advantages for customers.

IBM Consulting is introducing services aimed at helping organizations utilize AI agents effectively across multiple platforms. These services include advising clients on change management and new operating models facilitated by AI technology.

Ritu Jyoti from IDC noted that agents are becoming strategically important for optimizing operations: "Today’s most advanced agents are able to interact across different systems and processes, unleashing greater productivity." She pointed out that the Agentic AI approach taken by IBM with Oracle exemplifies how orchestrating workflows can drive growth and innovation.

This joint effort underscores a strategic move towards advancing hybrid cloud capabilities while leveraging each company's strengths in technology and consulting services.
