IBM and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have teamed up with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to advance quantum computing in India. This collaboration centers on the Quantum Valley Tech Park, currently under construction in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. The partnership envisions the park housing an IBM Quantum System Two, equipped with a 156-qubit Heron quantum processor, aiming to be the largest in India.

IBM and TCS have partnered to support the development of quantum algorithms and applications, with TCS providing cloud access to IBM's cloud-based quantum computers for regional scientists and technologists. "Our National Quantum Mission is to make India a global hub in the quantum industry," said N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He added that the park would represent a significant step in achieving the mission's goals.

Jay Gambetta, Vice President of IBM Quantum, indicated excitement about the partnership, stating the collaboration could accelerate the demonstration of quantum advantage. Under the agreement, members of the Quantum Valley Tech Park will have access to IBM's quantum computers. Subject to export licenses and agreements, the park will include the IBM Quantum System Two.

Dr. Harrick Vin, Chief Technology Officer at TCS, noted their strategy to integrate current systems with emerging quantum architectures, saying, "Hybrid architectures are the key to overcoming intractable computing challenges." TCS will focus on quantum use cases in various sectors, aiming to unlock applications with quantum advantage, solving industry problems currently beyond classical computing.

The initiative aims to establish a quantum ecosystem in India, creating jobs, attracting talent, and drawing global investments. TCS's role involves driving applied research and innovation, enabling researchers and industry experts to utilize IBM's quantum resources.
