Bank of Canada names 2024-25 scholarship recipients

The Bank of Canada has announced the recipients of its scholarship awards for the academic year 2024-2025. The scholarships support students with disabilities, Indigenous students, LGBTQ2S+ students, francophones, and those who identify as women or members of racialized groups. The Bank emphasizes that encouraging diverse backgrounds is vital to fostering innovative thinking and better policy outcomes.

5. Wendy Liao, Bachelor's in Computer Science and Business at Western University

6. Elliot Thordarson, Bachelor of Commerce at I.H. Asper School of Business (University of Manitoba)

7. Katherine Brennan, completed Bachelor’s in Economics and Statistics at University of Toronto, plans for Master’s in Economics

8. Katherine Karapetrovic, Bachelor of International Economics at University of British Columbia

9. Laila Virani, Bachelor's in Business at the University of British Columbia

10. Linda Nidale-Sadeck, Bachelor of Economics at Carleton University

11. Manahil Malik, completed Bachelor's in Economics at University of Toronto, plans for Master’s in Economics

12. Manuel Fernandez, Bachelor of Commerce, Management, Economics, and Finance at the University of Guelph

13. Melody Johnson, Diploma in Protection, Security and Investigation at Conestoga College

14. Rand Al-Nauimi, Bachelor of Commerce with Business Technology Management at Telfer School of Management (University of Ottawa)

15. Rosana Gao, Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science at University of Toronto

16. Simeon Muepu, Bachelor of Finance at Université de Montréal

17. Xavier Desroches Borelly, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Western University

18. Yeo Eun Chi, completed Bachelor's in Business Administration with Finance specialization at University of Toronto, plans for Master’s in Economics

Each student receives a scholarship of CAD 8,000 to aid with tuition at an accredited institution. The recipients may also be offered work opportunities at the Bank of Canada, accompanied by mentorship from a Bank employee.

In addition, the Bank sponsors a Master’s Scholarship Award for Women in Economics and Finance. Eligibility requires completion or near-completion of an undergraduate degree at a Canadian university, with candidates self-identifying as women. The scholarship provides an award of CAD 10,000, coupled with potential work opportunities and mentorship.
