IBM boosts AI capabilities with Hakkoda acquisition to enhance data transformation

IBM announced the acquisition of Hakkoda Inc., a global data and AI consultancy, to enhance IBM Consulting's data transformation services. This strategic move aims to leverage Hakkoda's expertise in modernizing and monetizing data estates to support AI-driven business operations. As a recognized partner of Snowflake, Hakkoda brings valuable industry solutions in fields such as financial services, public sector, and healthcare.

Mohamad Ali, IBM's Senior Vice President and Head of Consulting, stated that with Hakkoda's expertise and delivery model, IBM will be able to offer faster value to clients through AI transformation. Erik Duffield, Hakkoda's CEO and Co-founder, expressed enthusiasm for joining IBM, highlighting IBM's history of innovation and its technical partnerships.

The demand for enterprise intelligence services is on the rise, with spending expected to grow from $169 billion to over $243 billion by 2028. Hakkoda's status as an Elite Snowflake partner and its array of certifications enhance IBM's capabilities in this growing market.

Hakkoda operates from its headquarters in New York, with a presence in various global locations including Latin America, India, Europe, and the UK. The acquisition, which was finalized on April 2, 2025, did not reveal the financial terms.
