The Reserve Bank of Australia and the Bank of Japan have renewed their Bilateral Local Currency Swap Agreement for another three years. This agreement, initially signed in 2016, has been consistently renewed every three years. It aims to enhance financial stability between the two countries.
The arrangement allows for the exchange of local currencies between the central banks, with a limit of up to A$20 billion or JPY 1.6 trillion.
