CoinGecko reports that in December 2024, Binance remained the largest centralized cryptocurrency exchange, holding a 34.7% market share with $1.0 trillion in spot trading volume for the month. Despite increased competition from other major exchanges like Coinbase and OKX, Binance retained its lead due to its extensive range of trading pairs, deep liquidity, and strong global presence.

According to its website, Binance was founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao and has rapidly evolved into the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume.
