The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has appointed Julie Cayse as the new regional director for the Western Region, effective January 12. In her new capacity, Cayse will be responsible for overseeing the examination and supervision of all federally insured credit unions across several states and territories, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington Wisconsin and Wyoming.
NCUA Chairman Todd M. Harper commented on the appointment by stating: "Having worked in a variety of leadership roles at the NCUA this promotion is a well-deserved opportunity for Julie. Julie brings a tremendous amount of financial services experience gained in both the public and private sectors along with deep management expertise and knowledge of the credit union system to her new role. She will be a strong collaborative and energetic leader and I look forward to seeing what Julie will accomplish."
NCUA Vice Chairman Kyle S. Hauptman also expressed confidence in Cayse's capabilities: "Julie’s leadership and dedication to the credit union system have been evident throughout her career with the NCUA. There were a number of outstanding external and internal candidates for this job and I’m confident Julie is the right person to lead the Western Region."
Board Member Tanya F. Otsuka congratulated Cayse on her selection saying: "She has a deep understanding of the NCUA and the Western Region and I look forward to working with her in this new capacity to further strengthen our examination program and the credit union system."
Before stepping into her current role as regional director Cayse served as associate regional director of operations for the Western Region. Her career with NCUA began in 2010 when she joined as an examiner after gaining experience in financial services within the private sector.
Cayse's academic credentials include a bachelor's degree in economics and management from University of Kentucky along with an MBA from Xavier University Cincinnati Ohio. She is also an alumna of Executive Leadership Program at The Graduate School Washington D.C., as well as NCUA’s Executive Training Program.
The NCUA serves as an independent federal agency established by U.S Congress tasked with regulating chartering supervising federal credit unions managing National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund which insures deposits over 135 million account holders among other responsibilities related consumer protection financial literacy education.
