Federal Reserve invites students to join High School Fed Challenge

The Federal Reserve System has announced the High School Fed Challenge, inviting students nationwide to participate in this educational competition. The challenge encourages students to work collaboratively on research projects that will be assessed by staff from the Federal Reserve System. Successful podcast scripts may even be published in the Journal of Future Economists.

This initiative aims to help students develop skills commonly used by economists, such as research, data literacy, critical thinking, and analytical writing. Participants are urged to review the 2024–2025 Rule Book before registering for the program. Registration is open until February 15, 2025.

The theme for this year's challenge is "the Economics of Food." Interested participants can find more information and resources related to this theme on the New York Fed’s website.

"We produce indicators and datasets to inform the public, policymakers, and researchers about economic conditions," states a representative from the Fourth Federal Reserve District. This district covers Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Kentucky. They emphasize their role in supporting financial institutions and maintaining financial stability for the US Treasury.

For further details about participating in the High School Fed Challenge or accessing educational resources provided by the Federal Reserve System, individuals are encouraged to visit their official website.
