Alliance Credit Union of Florida placed into conservatorship by state regulator

Florida's Office of Financial Regulation has placed Alliance Credit Union of Florida into conservatorship, appointing the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) as conservator. The credit union, located in Gainesville, will continue its operations without interruption.

The NCUA assures that member deposits remain protected by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. This fund insures individual accounts up to $250,000 and provides similar coverage for joint accounts, IRA, and KEOGH retirement accounts. The insurance is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States.

Members can continue transactions online or at two locations: 412 East University Avenue and 4280 N.W. 16th Blvd., both in Gainesville. Operating hours vary slightly between these offices.

Alliance Credit Union of Florida serves residents and workers in several counties including Alachua and Bradford. It currently has 5,394 members with assets totaling approximately $59 million.

The NCUA is an independent federal agency responsible for regulating federal credit unions and managing the Share Insurance Fund which protects over 135 million account holders across various credit unions nationwide.
