On May 16, 2024, Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs Jay Shambaugh held a meeting with Argentina’s Chief of Cabinet Nicolás Posse and Foreign Minister Diana Mondino. The Argentine delegation was also accompanied by Ambassador Gerardo Werthein.

During the meeting, Under Secretary Shambaugh praised the Argentine authorities for their significant progress in reducing inflation. He also discussed how the government is managing to alleviate the burden of fiscal adjustment on its most vulnerable citizens.

Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen joined the meeting to underscore the importance of Argentina’s sustainable economic recovery to the United States.
