Yale College Admits 2,146 Applicants from Record Applicant Pool

Yale College has announced the admission of 2,146 applicants from a record applicant pool, marking a significant milestone in the institution's history. The newly admitted students, selected from the largest admissions pool in Yale's history, bring with them a diverse range of strengths, ambitions, and lived experiences.

According to Jeremiah Quinlan, dean of undergraduate admissions and financial aid, the Class of 2028 comprises students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, two U.S. territories, and 62 countries. Quinlan highlighted the inspiring qualities seen in this year's applicant pool, emphasizing the importance of attracting promising students from various backgrounds.

Among the admitted students are individuals who were notified of their acceptance through the Early Action program and the QuestBridge National College Match program. Yale's commitment to diversity and inclusion is further demonstrated by its significant investment in need-based financial aid, ensuring that all admitted students receive 100% of demonstrated financial need.

Kari DiFonzo, director of undergraduate financial aid, explained that Yale College's financial aid policies aim to support diversity by meeting the financial needs of all admitted students, regardless of their citizenship or immigration status. DiFonzo highlighted the institution's dedication to providing comprehensive financial aid packages, including covering all billed expenses and travel costs for families with demonstrated need.

In line with its efforts to engage with admitted students, Yale will be hosting Bulldog Days in April 2024, offering newly admitted students the opportunity to experience campus life through immersive programs and virtual events. Mark Dunn, senior associate director for outreach and recruitment, expressed gratitude to the Yale community for welcoming new students and emphasized the importance of connecting admitted students with the people who make Yale unique.

As the incoming Class of 2028 prepares to embark on their Yale journey, the institution remains committed to fostering a community where excellence is enriched by diversity. Admitted students will have until May 1 to respond to their offer of admission, with the college eagerly anticipating the arrival of these talented individuals on campus in the coming months.
