Kansas City Fed's Wilkerson says revenues are expected 'to grow and employment activity to moderate'

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City released its July Services Survey on July 28, which showed that activity in the Tenth District remained consistent during the month, with expectations for future activity increasing slightly. Chad Wilkerson, senior vice president of the Kansas City Fed said that pattern is expected to continue.

“District services activity stayed steady in July,” Wilkerson said in a release by the Kansas City Fed. “Firms expect revenues to grow and employment activity to moderate in the future.”

The survey's summary is included on the Fed's website, where users can also access historical information, survey results from the past, and publication dates for upcoming surveys. The monthly Survey of Tenth District Services from the Kansas City Fed includes data on a number of activity indicators, such as sales, revenue, employment, and capital expenditures, as well as changes in the cost of raw materials and selling prices.

The July survey followed the Kansas City Fed's June report, which revealed that Tenth District activity increased significantly in June, although expectations for future activity declined slightly.

Participants in the survey come from a variety of sectors, such as retail and wholesale trade, auto dealers, transportation, information, high-tech, and professional services, real estate, restaurants, health services, tourism, and other services businesses.

The Tenth Federal Reserve District includes the western third of Missouri, all of Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Wyoming, as well as the northern half of New Mexico, and it is serviced by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. The Bank participates in making national monetary policy as a member of the central bank, and the Fed oversees and controls a large number of commercial banks and bank holding companies, as well as offering financial services to depository institutions.

More information on the historical surveys, including summaries for each month of the year, are available on the Kansas City Fed website.
