SensorTower has announced that Binance has been ranked as the top cryptocurrency app, citing its 225 million downloads and leading user engagement. The announcement was made on their website on February 17.

The SensorTower awards recognize top-performing apps based on key metrics such as downloads, revenue, user engagement, and ratings. According to SensorTower, Binance’s recognition as the best cryptocurrency app highlights its 225 million downloads and consistently high 4.8-star rating across global markets. The rankings are derived from comprehensive data analytics, tracking app performance in the fintech and crypto sectors.

CoinGecko reports that in December 2024, Binance remained the largest centralized cryptocurrency exchange, holding a 34.7% market share with $1.0 trillion in spot trading volume for the month. Despite increased competition from other major exchanges like Coinbase and OKX, Binance retained its lead due to its extensive range of trading pairs, deep liquidity, and strong global presence.

According to its website, Binance was founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao and has rapidly evolved into the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. Under the leadership of CEO Richard Teng since November 2023, the company has prioritized regulatory compliance, securing approvals in 21 countries, including recent authorization from Brazil’s Central Bank for the acquisition of a local broker-dealer.

Founded in 2013 by Alex Malafeev and Oliver Yeh, Sensor Tower is a San Francisco-based company specializing in mobile app analytics and market intelligence. The company offers insights into app performance, digital advertising, retail media, and audience demographics, serving major brands and app publishers worldwide. As of December 2024, Sensor Tower employs approximately 322 individuals across multiple continents including North America, Europe, and Asia.
