Secretary Bessent meets UK Chancellor Reeves to discuss Russia sanctions and supply chain issues

Last week, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with Rachel Reeves, the United Kingdom’s Chancellor to the Exchequer, in Washington. The meeting focused on urging Europe to take a leading role in increasing pressure on Russia through coordinated efforts with the G7. Secretary Bessent also discussed the need for a unified response to China’s global rare earth export controls and emphasized the importance of diversifying supply chains.

Both officials acknowledged the success of President Trump’s recent state visit to the United Kingdom.
