Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Finance Lars Klingbeil in Washington on August 4, 2025. The meeting focused on several key topics affecting U.S.-German relations.

During their discussion, Secretary Bessent pointed to the trade agreement reached between the United States and the European Union under President Trump. He expressed appreciation for Germany’s work on international tax matters.
