On September 17, 2025, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) announced a decision to make changes to the Access Regime for the ATM System. The variation will take effect on October 1, 2025. According to the RBA, “The purpose of the variation is to accommodate the replacement of the associated industry-administered ATM Access Code with a new ATM Access Standard. The amendments to the Access Regime are minor and do not change its substantive requirements.”

Further information about these changes can be found in official documents released by the RBA, including an explanatory statement and details about the new standard available through AusPayNet.
