The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is set to host the Economic Mobility Summit on April 22 and 23, 2025, at the Loews Hotel in Center City Philadelphia. The event will draw community and business leaders nationwide to discuss economic mobility, the hurdles communities face, and best practices for collaboration to enhance economic opportunities.

Panels will include researchers on data application, executives highlighting the business case for career development investment, and workforce experts providing insights into career advancement. Theresa Singleton, senior vice president and community affairs officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, noted, “To meet the Federal Reserve’s policy goals of promoting maximum employment and stable prices, we must understand how people from all walks of life experience and navigate the economy.”

The summit will feature several high-profile speakers, including Raj Chetty, director of Opportunity Insights and Professor of Economics at Harvard University; Austan Goolsbee, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, who will participate virtually; Patrick T. Harker, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia; Philip N. Jefferson, vice chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Cherelle L. Parker, mayor of the City of Philadelphia; Sarah Rosen Wartell, president of the Urban Institute; and Angela F. Williams, president and CEO of United Way Worldwide.

Interactive breakout sessions will allow attendees to explore local approaches for building cross-sector collaborations, addressing policy gaps, and elevating community voices. Topics will cover employer partnerships, the growth of quality jobs, innovation in apprenticeship models, and employment barriers such as childcare needs.

The conference’s final session will focus on economic mobility in Philadelphia, with The Pew Charitable Trusts presenting its Philadelphia 2025 “State of the City” findings. This annual report provides insights into the city’s labor market, economic conditions, demographics, and challenges.

The Philadelphia Fed will host this event in collaboration with the Federal Reserve Banks of Atlanta, Chicago, and St. Louis; The Pew Charitable Trusts; Philadelphia Foundation; and the Urban Institute.

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia formulates and implements monetary policy and supervises financial institutions. It serves eastern and central Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware.
