The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has appointed Anna Nordstrom as the Head of its Markets Group. Nordstrom will also continue as a member of the New York Fed’s Executive Committee. Previously, Nordstrom was serving in the role on an interim basis since December 2024.

“Anna is a dedicated public servant who applies her keen understanding of financial markets and operations, and her decades of engagement with central banks and market participants around the world to help drive our success,” stated John C. Williams, President and CEO of the New York Fed. He further highlighted her “deep and broad expertise and experience, humility, and empathetic leadership.”

Nordstrom expressed her respect for the Fed and her commitment to the role: “I have enormous respect for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Federal Reserve System, its mission, and the people who serve it, and I am humbled and honored to take on this role.” She appreciated the opportunity to work alongside her colleagues to fulfill their public mission.

Since 2023, Nordstrom has been overseeing the Domestic and International Markets Function. Her responsibilities included implementing monetary policy operations, conducting foreign exchange operations for the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and the U.S. Treasury, and managing central bank liquidity swap lines. Additionally, she has been involved in producing U.S. money market reference rates and analyzing policy developments.

Nordstrom’s career at the New York Fed began in 2008, where she led the International Markets Function for 15 years. Her experience extends beyond the New York Fed with prior roles at the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Central Bank of Sweden (Sveriges Riksbank).
