NCUA schedules public hearing and comment period for draft budget

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has announced a public hearing on its draft budget for 2026-2027. The hearing is scheduled for November 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will take place at the NCUA headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. The agency has also published notice of the hearing in the Federal Register.

The draft budget was made available to the public through the Federal Register on September 29, 2025. Those interested in submitting written comments now have until November 7, 2025, to do so. The proposed budget is accessible on the Budget and Supplementary Materials page on NCUA’s website.

The public hearing will be live streamed on NCUA’s webpage on November 6, allowing broader access for those unable to attend in person.

Individuals who wish to attend or present at the hearing must email their request to BudgetHearing@ncua.gov by October 30, 2025. Requests should include the individual’s name, title, affiliation, mailing address, email address, and telephone number. The email must clarify whether they intend only to attend or also wish to make a presentation.

According to NCUA guidelines: “The NCUA Board Secretary will inform presenters on October 31, 2025, if they have been approved to make a presentation.” Approved presenters are required to submit their statements in advance by emailing them to BudgetHearing@ncua.gov by 1:00 p.m. Eastern on November 3, 2025. Presenters will each have five minutes during the hearing for their remarks.

Written comments about the proposed budget can be submitted via Docket # NCUA-2025-0543 at the Federal eRulemaking Portal until November 7, 2025.

The NCUA is an independent federal agency established by Congress responsible for regulating and supervising federal credit unions. It manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund which insures deposits of over 143 million account holders across all federal credit unions and most state-chartered credit unions.
