NCUA liquidates Soul Community Federal Credit Union due to insolvency

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has liquidated Soul Community Federal Credit Union, located in Austell, Georgia. The decision to close the credit union was made after it was found to be insolvent and in violation of several provisions of the Federal Credit Union Act and NCUA regulations. These violations included operating in an unsafe and unsound manner.

Member deposits remain protected by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund up to at least $250,000. The NCUA’s Asset Management and Assistance Center will communicate with individuals holding verified credit union share accounts within a week. Soul Community Federal Credit Union was chartered in 2024 and primarily served people living, working, worshipping, studying, and participating in various programs in Austell, Georgia.

The NCUA is an independent federal agency responsible for regulating, chartering, and supervising federal credit unions in the United States. It manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund that insures deposits for over 135 million account holders across federal credit unions and most state-chartered credit unions.
