IBM has announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to enhance AI capabilities through the integration of NVIDIA’s AI Data Platform technologies. The partnership aims to assist enterprises in effectively utilizing their data for developing and managing generative AI workloads and agentic AI applications.

A recent IBM report highlighted that 77 percent of executives believe generative AI is ready for market deployment, a significant increase from 36 percent in 2023. This growing confidence underscores the need for advanced compute and data-intensive technologies. The collaboration between IBM and NVIDIA seeks to deliver hybrid AI solutions that leverage open technologies while ensuring robust data management, performance, security, and governance.

The new initiatives include the introduction of content-aware storage (CAS) capability by IBM, designed to process unstructured data efficiently without compromising safety. This feature will be integrated into IBM Fusion’s upcoming update. Additionally, IBM plans to integrate its watsonx offerings with NVIDIA NIM to provide broader access to leading AI models across various cloud environments.

IBM is also expanding its NVIDIA accelerated computing portfolio on IBM Cloud with the availability of NVIDIA H200 instances. These instances are tailored for modern AI workloads and larger foundational models.

Moreover, IBM Consulting is launching AI Integration Services aimed at transforming business processes using agentic AI in collaboration with NVIDIA Blueprints. This includes industry-specific workflows such as autonomous inspection in manufacturing or proactive video analysis in energy sectors.

Hillery Hunter, CTO and General Manager of Innovation at IBM Infrastructure, stated, “IBM is focused on helping enterprises build and deploy effective AI models and scale with speed.” Rob Davis from NVIDIA added that integrating IBM’s content-aware storage with NVIDIA AI orchestrates data processing across an optimized network fabric.

Further details about these collaborations can be found at GTC’s session catalog on NVIDIA’s website.
