U.S. Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo engaged in a virtual call with Ukrainian Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko on August 20, 2024. During the discussion, Deputy Secretary Adeyemo reaffirmed the Administration’s unwavering support for Ukraine amid its defense against Russia’s ongoing conflict. He praised Ukraine’s efforts to boost domestic revenues and assured that the international community would continue its support.

The conversation included talks about the U.S. and G7 partners’ efforts to operationalize the G7 Leaders’ Apulia commitment concerning Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) Loans for Ukraine. This includes significant work by the European Union and the European Commission on immobilizing Russian sovereign assets, potentially unlocking around $50 billion in additional funding by year-end to aid Ukraine’s needs.

Additionally, they discussed Ukraine’s progress on reforms aimed at enhancing economic resilience and governance, as well as recent U.S. direct budget support disbursements for Ukraine.
