Global investment firm Carlyle and UBS’s Unified Global Alternatives (UGA) business have announced a collaboration focused on an open-ended private equity secondaries initiative aimed at wealth management clients. The partnership seeks to offer institutional-quality secondaries exposure, enhancing liquidity, diversification, and long-term value.

Shane Clifford, Global Head of Wealth at Carlyle, stated that the collaboration emphasizes their commitment to expanding access to private market solutions while maintaining institutional rigor. “By combining Carlyle AlpInvest’s global secondaries expertise with that of UBS’s Unified Global Alternatives business, our goal is to deliver a compelling solution to investors,” he said.

Chris Perriello, Global Head of Secondaries at Carlyle AlpInvest, highlighted the growth and maturity of the secondaries market over the past two decades. He noted that the current environment is highly active with high-quality portfolios available and sellers seeking flexible solutions. “With a long history of sourcing and executing complex secondary transactions globally, this initiative is a natural way to bring that expertise to a broader set of investors,” Perriello added.

Jerry Pascucci, Co-Head of UGA at UBS, expressed pride in innovating with premier general partners by leveraging their scale and resources across alternative investment strategies. Johannes Roth, also Co-Head of UGA at UBS, expressed delight in collaborating with Carlyle AlpInvest. He emphasized combining their experience to deliver private equity secondary market opportunities for clients and driving a robust deal funnel through Carlyle’s expertise combined with UGA’s global network.

The communication specifies it does not constitute an offering of securities in the United States or to U.S. Persons as defined under Regulation S under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933.

Carlyle is recognized as a global investment firm deploying private capital across various segments including Global Private Equity and Global Credit. As of March 31, 2025, it manages $453 billion in assets.

UBS’s Unified Global Alternatives brings together leading alternatives manager selection franchises from Asset Management and Global Wealth Management with invested assets around $295 billion.
